Normandy Garden Birds - January

There is only one bird that can tell the nuthatch what's what and that's the lesser spotted woodpecker. Although the woodpecker is a regular visitor to the bird feeder he is difficult to photograph as he notices the slightest movement.

The nuthatch however, is quite bold and when the woodpecker isn't around, he's the boss.
Other regular visitors on the lookout for titbits are a marsh tit, bluetits, great tits chaffinches, sparrows and a robin.

A tree creeper is sometimes to be seen darting up the trunks of the fruit trees but he generally prefers to keep himself to himself.

A barn owl was  swooping around the orchard in the evenings this week  and can be heard calling at night.
